President Obama, the Point Guard for America’s Future

Everyone by now should know that President Obama’s favorite sport is not golf or tennis or bowling (God forbid), its basketball!! The President, it has been said by those he plays with, has a very good game as well as the skills needed to run a basketball team, he is, as one other player quipped, the pointguard of the nations.
In case anyone does not know what a “point guard” is in basketball parlance, he or she, is the player that runs the offense. The pointguard’s job is to distribute the ball to his team mates so that they can score on their own. The point guard is also usually the player that controls the ball the most, and brings it up the floor.
In many ways a point guard is the leader of a basketball team, much as a President is the leader of a government. President Obama has proven to be a good leader on the court and he certainly is showing the signs of being a good governmental leader as well. Before he was even inaugurated he and his staff were working feverishly to prepare for the transfer of power but also themost urgent initiative that would need to be implemented as soon as he took office, specifically the economic crisis plaguing the country.
In the same way a point guard positions his team mates and shouts out the play, the President set his advisers and staff, right after the election, to analyze and formulate what could be done immediately after taking office to begin to solve our nation’s problems. The President took control and shouted out the play (agenda) to his teammates (his staff), just like a point guard on a basketball court would.
